Meet the Chiron Sports Performance Team
· Heather Ohanaja, Michelle Cohl

The Chiron Sports Performance team was put together with one thought in mind:
What is the best combination of professionals to support athletes who are determined to
prevent injury, perform at their best and, when necessary, recover with confidence?
That calls for an unprecedented combination of specialties – including sports medicine,
athletic training, coaching, performance sports science, operations, and even
storytelling. Because every athlete’s journey is an amazing story, and we’re proud to be
part of it.
There was certainly no shortage of candidates. More than 100 applicants wanted to be
part of our team as we were launching, and nearly half of them were very well-qualified.
But we knew we needed to insist on the highest and most particular of standards when
choosing our team.
Now that the team has been together for the better part of a year, we love the choices
we made:
Dr. Chibuzo “Casey” Ohanaja, MD, MPH
Co-Founder & Medical Director
Known to many as Dr. Oh, Chibuzo “Casey” Ohanaja co-founded Chiron Sports Performance with his wife
Heather to give athletes the most complete source ever offered for their full physical and
mental health – and to help them maximize their performance while learning to prevent
injuries (and quickly recover if they happen).
A board-certified family medicine physician with fellowship training in primary care
sports medicine, Casey has cared for athletes at every level – with specific service to
organizations such as Detroit City FC, the Erie Seawolves (minor league affiliate of the
Detroit Tigers) and many area high schools. He has also completed NBA-level player
development training, which adds another dimension to how he connects sports
medicine, injury prevention, and long-term athlete development.
Casey is also a professor at Oakland University, where he teaches graduate students
about evidence-based decision-making in the clinical setting. At Chiron, he integrates
medical evaluation, diagnostic ultrasound, objective performance data, and
individualized planning to help athletes safely progress from prevention and recovery to
performance and return to play.
And no team has ignited his passion more than the one that’s been put together at
Chiron Sports Performance.
“Rarely does an athlete find a whole team of people that understand them at their core,”
says Dr. Oh. “They deserve a team that can deliver what they need from a mental,
physical, and overall health standpoint. That, at my core, is what drove me to create this
type of model.”
Heather Ohanaja
Co-Founder & Director of Operations
Co-founder Heather has been instrumental in turning the Chiron vision into a smooth
and efficient operation – combining her extensive background in sales, marketing, and
customer experience (much of it from her time at General Motors) with her passion for
the vision she and Casey share.
At Chiron, Heather oversees strategy, daily operations, branding, marketing,
partnerships, community outreach, team workflows, and the overall athlete and family
experience. She also personally designed the Chiron Sports Performance facility, creating a space that
reflects the company’s integrated, modern and athlete-focused model.
“We knew there was a level of person we were looking for,” Heather says. “People all
over the world applied, from the strength and conditioning coach of a professional
football team to sports physical therapists and so many others. It was the ones who best
understood our vision – that this would be something new and game-changing – that we
chose to form our team.”
Lindsay Letner, MA, ATC, LAT, CEIS
Performance Specialist
Lindsay loves helping athletes move on from pain and limitations to achieve confident,
durable performance. A licensed and certified athletic trainer for more than a decade,
Lindsay has extensive training and experience in dry needling, shockwave therapy,
IASTM, Graston, cupping, and other hands-on recovery techniques. She has served
athletes at the University of Detroit Mercy, Hanover College, Morehead State University,
and the University of Indianapolis.
“Chiron has offered me the opportunity to focus on what is most important to me,”
Lindsay says. “They have challenged me to continue to learn every day, and also
supported that learning so that I can transfer new skills and knowledge into the
performance lab and clinic. As the world of sports medicine continues to advance, it is
very important to me that my skills grow along with it. Knowing that they trust my
experience and want to help me expand my role makes me extremely excited for the
future.”
Lindsay added she is thankful to be part of the family atmosphere at Chiron Sports Performance, especially
since it allows her to be a present and involved mom while working with the athletes and
her teammates at Chiron.
Kanisha “Coach Nuk” Ward, M.Ed, LAT, ATC
Performance Specialist
Coach Nuk has done it all – as an NCAA Division I athlete, a championship-level
basketball coach, and an experienced program leader. She also completed a student
athletic training internship with the New York Liberty of the WNBA. And she did it all with
her expert background in high school sports medicine, rehabilitation, orthopaedic
bracing, and athlete development. When working with Coach Nuk, athletes not only
develop physically and learn to reduce their injury risk. They also learn to perform at top
levels, especially in basketball.
“Being part of Chiron means being part of something bigger than myself,” says Coach
Nuk. “Chiron is more than a place where athletes train. It’s a team committed to growth,
excellence, and developing people. I’m proud to contribute, add value, and help build
something that makes a lasting impact.”
Martina Atanasoski
Operations and Performance Assistant
Martina represents the heartbeat of Chiron’s operations and our work with athletes by
providing critical support for performance testing, athlete communication, critical and
performance workflows, and overall daily operations. Martina ensures that every
athlete’s visit is organized and connected from arrival to follow-up. With a bachelor’s
degree in kinesiology and sport science from Wayne State University, Martina has
gained a strong background in medical assisting, physical therapy support, and health
coaching. She also coaches athletes in Alpine ski racing and swimming.
“Being a part of Chiron means a lot to me,” Martina says. “It feels like I've found a family
outside of my home. The kindness of the owners, the energy of my co-workers, and the
overall feeling that I can be myself and still be completely valued. Not to mention that
Heather and Dr. Oh have my back 100 percent, whether I'm clocked in or clocked out. It
is truly a fantastic place to be!”
Kenzie Potter
Social Media & Content Coordinator
Kenzie takes the amazing work that happens inside Chiron’s facility and presents it to
the world. As we continue to build healthy, strong, well-educated, and top-performing
athletes with our knowledge, technology, science, and genuine care, Kenzie shares our
impact with the community across multiple digital platforms – keeping our brand vibrant
and consistent, and reminding the community of the amazing outputs coming from
Chiron Sports Performance.
“I’ve been involved in sports most of my life, so being able to work with athletes and
hear their individual stories is something that means a lot to me,” Kenzie says. “I love
getting to know the person behind the athlete and being part of a community that
supports them. The owners, Heather and Casey, are also wonderful to work with and
are really passionate about what they do, which makes my job so much easier.”
